Reforestation efforts at P V R E - Quarterly Update - Q1

As P V R E is a green investment business, it is part of our mission to help reforest the world. So,  we believe it’s important to bring you along for every step of the journey. Our quarterly reports are designed to share our progress while also giving our supporters a fleshed out understanding of how we are going about our work and finally the impact our work has had. Working against the backdrop of the global pandemic, we are even more proud of the hard work we’ve achieved in this quarter.

This quarter, we are proud to announce that we have planted 413 trees for a total of 0.2 hectares of area reforested.

In addition to highlights the direct contributions made, we also want to highlight the broader impact that reforestation efforts can have.

What Does Planting Trees Do?

Planting trees is recognised as one of the most effective things we can do for the planet with a huge benefit in both the long and short term. It’s an effective tool in the battle against climate change as trees can remove stored carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. But the ecological value does not stop there as tress can defend against flooding, improve air quality, reflect light and provide habitat to the world’s wonderful creatures.

Facts About Trees

Here are some quickfire facts about trees and tree planting:

  • Forest fires make up 80% of our reforestation needs, which only goes to further highlight the climate change battle we are facing,
  • A professional tree planter can plant a tree in less than 10 seconds!
  • Trees make us happy! People have reported feeling an uptick in their mood where they see trees on their morning commute.
  • Trees near a building can help reduce airconditioning costs by up to 50%

Spotlight: The Eden Projects, Madagascar

In this section, we want to highlight some of the great work that conservationists are doing around the world. In this edition, want to focus on the work being done in Madagascar with the Madagascar Reforestation Projects.

Due to the widespread loss of the mangroves, it quickly becomes apparent that this was an area that needs to be addressed quickly. Through the tireless work of everyone involved the project has been a huge success (though not yet complete) with 3369675 trees funded of 4500,000. Of that, we are proud to have contributed 298 trees to the cause. Overall, the work done in Madagascar has helped compensate for 111 322 520 kg; a testament to what we can achieve if we fight for this planet.

In summary, this quarter has been one that we are extremely proud of. Through your support, we have made huge strides in our goal to save this planet and we hope to continue doing so throughout the coming months and years. Remember, our work is only possible with our customers: every time you buy a case, we plant a tree.
